2017 Heifer League All-Star Game

The 2018 Heifer League All-Star Game was the 2nd annual midsummer classic for the Heifer League. The game took place on July 2, 2018, at Scottsdale Grounds, in Scottsdale, Arizona, home of the Scottsdale Kangaroos, the AA-level affiliate of the Denver Danger. The visiting Barn League All-Stars defeated the hosting Pasture League All-Stars, 4-1.

The Barn League took an early lead after Sergio Maes (Hughes) doubled off Ray Woodmansee (Sacramento) with one-out in the top of the second inning, the first of several at-bats that would give the Barn League a 2-0 lead. The double by Maes was followed by a walk by Andy Creeps (Kitchener). A strikeout and another walk later and the bases were loaded with two out, leading to Glen Dees (Wichita) getting the call from the bullpen.

Reynaldo Blas (Spokane) singled to right on the first pitch from Dees, sending Maes and Creeps in to score, and the runs being charged to Woodmansee. The next batter struck out, but the damage was done.

In the 4th, Ken Moorman (Oakland) added an insurance run, raking a 2-0 pitch 368-feet down the right field line that stayed fair. The solo home run put the Barn League up 3-0.

In the bottom of the 5th, the Pasture League tried to answer, with Chris Reichert (Scottsdale) blasting a line drive single to left, but the rally immediately fizzled when Reichert was caught stealing third during the next at-bat. The Pasture League did finally get on the scoreboard, on a 7th inning lead-off homer by Mike Thompson (Madison), making it 3-1 for the visitors.

However, in the next frame, Bret May (Savannah) answered that with his own lead-off solo shot to right field, going yard on a 3-2 pitch, bumping the score to 4-1 for the Barn League. May was named All-Star MVP for his efforts, and the win went to Cedar's Andy Brown, while Woodmansee took the loss.
