The Louisville Sluggers are an American Bull League baseball team based in Louisville, Kentucky. The team is located in the Lake League (LL) West division. The team was formerly known as the Battle Creek Attack from 2012 until 2017.
The team is a 2012 Expansion team, and has a lifetime record of 168-342 (.329). They have no playoff appearances.
The team was originally formed as the Battle Creek Attack the in 2012 expansion. They are the only team added in 2012 which was placed in the LL, the others were all placed in the American Eagle League.2015, when they finished 3rd.
The team has had a terrible first few years since joining, setting a record for most losses in a season in 2016, at 63. The team is also notorious for having some of the worst offense in the league, with all-time records in lowest team batting average (.200 set in 2013), fewest runs scored (232 in the same year), fewest hits (544, again in the same year), and are tied with the Toronto Ducks for most strikeouts (810 set in 2012). They also have the distinction of having the fewest team stolen bases and are the only team to only steal single-digit bases, swiping just 9 bases in 2016.
In early 2018, a new GM, John Hicks, swayed ownership to relocate the rename the team out of the small-market western Michigan area, to historic baseball town Louisville, Kentucky. The team then became the Louisville Sluggers.
|2012–2014||John Porter||69-177, .280||The Canadian from Saskatoon, SK had a forgettable period as Battle Creek's first GM, overseeing the team as it set some of its several records for worst performances in the LL|
|2015–2017||Aaron Thompson||99-165, .375||Under Thompson the team has seen some improvements but was marred by the worst record in baseball following a 19-63 finish in 2016|
|2018||Josh Hicks||15-27, ..357||Josh Hicks took over in February of 2018, but left on June 30, before the half-way point of the 2018 season due to personal reasons.|
|2018||Aaron Thompson||Thompson resumed his general managerial duties after the departure of Hicks at the end of June, 2018|
In 2017 the teams split their eight meetings, 4—4. For that season, the schedule had already been set and the Motorheads were counted as an East Division team.
With the Sluggers relocation to Kentucky, the rivalry is not expected to be as intense in future seasons.
