The Detroit Motorheads are an American Bull League baseball team based in Detroit, Michigan. The team is in the Lake League's West division. Although a new franchise only founded in 2017, their players and front office staff were all transferred from the now-defunct Chicoutimi Cinquantes as part of a league realignment.
The team name evokes the predominant role of Detroit through its history as a major center of the automobile manufacturing industry in the United States.
The team was newly formed in April of 2017. Previously, there had not been a Bull League team in Detroit since the Detroit Lakes in 1989, a team that was folded when the league underwent an early realignment. As the schedule for 2017 had already been set, the team remained in the former Chicoutimi slot as an East division team for the season, but has now realigned to the West division for 2018.
Although newly formed, the former Chicoutimi Cinquantes players and front office staff form the foundation of the new franchise. In addition, the new club has kept the two former Cinquantes retired numbers, #14 for Iron Arm and #22 for Joe Balaski.
The team currently has two retired jersey numbers. Both players' numbers were retired as Chicoutimi Cinquantes.
