Sandy Koufax Award
|
The Sandy Koufax Award (or SKA) is given annually to the best pitchers in the Bull League, one each for the Lake League (LL) and the Metropolitan League (ML). The award is named after Sandy Koufax, who was the first pitcher to win the Cy Young Award in multiple years and the first to win by unanimous vote. Koufax is considered by many to be one of the greatest left-handed pitchers to play professional baseball.
The winners of the Sandy Koufax Award are announced following the Bull Cup Championship Series, and are selected by a vote by the general managers.
Ricky Terrazas is the only pitcher to have won the award nine times, all consecutively, playing first for the Chicago Pit Bulls in the former American Eagle League (AEL), then for the Montreal Metros in the LL.
