Victor Sarmiento
Victor Sarmiento is a Mexican professional baseball center fielder and right fielder who currently plays for the Toronto Nomads in the Bull League's Lake League (LL). He made his major-level debut with the Nomads in 2016.[1][2] Team HistoryToronto Nomads: 2016-PresentSarmiento was signed as an international prospect out of Mexico to the Toronto Ducks (now the Nomads) in 2009, but did play in the organization until 2011, when he joined the Sarnia Shock (formerly the Toronto A-level Calf League farm team). He enjoyed some successful years with Sarnia, still holding several single-season batting records, but started his upwards climb through the farm system in earnest in 2013 and finally landed a regular starting role in the Toronto Nomads outfield in 2016, playing 59 games. That season, we was in the running for the LL Rookie of the Year Award, going .311 and naling 12 homers, 38 RBIs, and scoring 33 runs, but lost out to teammate Knuckles Malone. He ended up finishing third in the voting, despite missing several weeks due to injuries. Career HighlightsSarmiento was named LL Rookie of the Month in June of 2016, but missed out on the Rookie of the Year Award that year, placing 3rd in the final voting. He was voted into the 2016 Bull League All-Star Game.[1] References
