Jose Ramirez
Jose 'Racetrack' Ramirez is a Cuban professional baseball left fielder who currently plays for the Montreal Metros in the Bull League's Lake League (LL). He made his major-level debut with the Metros in 2016.[1] Team HistoryMontreal MetrosRamirez was signed as an international amateur out of Cuba in 2012. Initially ranked as the #32 prospect in the Bull Baseball League, he quickly rose when he joined what was then the rookie-level affiliate Surrey Rage, the following season. He showed signs of having some power potential through his pro debut season, in 2013, hitting 8 home runs in 60 games, as well as some speed, with ten steals.[1] The next year, he was named #1 prospect before the season began. He started in A-level with the Winnipeg Gophers and quickly advanced up the levels, going to AA-level Cedar Defenders after just 37 games with the Gophers, where he hit .344 and had 8 long balls with 30 RBIs, and 17 steals. At Cedar, he stayed for just 8 games before making the jump to AAA-level Vaughan Peppers. His hot hitting continued with Cedar, then with Vaughan, going .355 at AA-level and later .294 at AAA-level.[1] In 2016, he made the cut at spring training and was on the 25-man roster for the Metros, playing a full 82 games in left field, hitting .272/.330/.477 for an OPS of .807.
