-Kinetic guns fire physical ammo and are replenished with white ammoand can generally be any type of gunAuto RiflesScout RiflesPulse Rifles, HandgunsRevolvers and Submachine guns are all eligible for this category.+Who would have ever thought a mobile game would end up on my list? As a big fan of the Hitman franchise since its second iterationwhen it was announced that Square Enix Montreal would be working on a mobile game in the same universe, I was no doubt concerned. To my surprise, it ended up being one of the best games of the yearIt takes the scenarios we’ve come to love in the full-fledged stealth games and creates bite-sized puzzles. There’s no game on my Nexus 5 that I played more of this yeartrying to master each missionwhile doing so with the least amount of turns or picking up the optional briefcase. While it’s not what I hope the series will move towards in the futureit is a nice side activity that will distract you for a couple minutes at a time.

-Starting with Record Books seems like the appropriate place. Destiny 2 The Final Shape took the idea of achievements or milestoneswhatever they might be called, and put them in the form of Record BooksA way for Guardians to keep track of all their glorious achievement plus receive gifts for leveling up through the Record Book that can be shown off when around other GuardiansNothing like sweet skin, rightMuch like its Age of Triumph title comes the ultimate Record BookNot only is this Record Book the largest seen so far, but it also is tough as nails to get through. It is sure to keep any Guardian busyespecially those that might be returning. What’s nice about the Age of Triumph Book is even if it seems like slog (nothing new for Destiny), the records are easy to achieve, especially before SeptemberNothing bombastic or hardcoreJust challenging but fair checklistThings players will find worth doinghell maybe even starting up that class youve always wanted to play but never got around tooSeptember is long way away after all and that Age of Triumph book wont fill itself out.+Placing all the powerful weapons in the same category has good potential for PvP, but it’also a functional misstep in terms of PvEPower weapon ammo drops more often in Destiny 2 than heavy weapon ammo in Destiny 1but still not nearly as often as kinetic or energy weapon ammoSo right away there’s less incentive to use that ammo for any weapon other than a rocket or grenade launcherWhy waste that relatively rare and precious ammo on sniper rifle when it could instead be spent on something much more powerfulIt’s the same issue with abilities in that they’re all restricted by ridiculously-slow cooldownsInstead of enjoying the ability to toss a grenade into a group of minor enemiesdodge around the battlefield at one’s leisure or even pop super to take on a mid-boss, the game encourages players to bank them insteadTo use one’s abilities in any situation other than the most desperate is to see them go to wasteNobody wants to be caught staring at cool-down meter when they’re stuck in a tight spotThese can at least be adjusted a bit with modsbut who wants to waste their mods on anything other than top-tier armor? The net result is gameplay that’s gone from fast-paced, fluid and fun, to something slow, limited and dull with no incentive whatsoever to make use of the game’s most enjoyable weapons and powersIf the developers truly felt that these changes were necessary to achieve more fun and balanced Crucible, then perhaps it would have been better to just separate the Crucible from the rest of the game.

-The first piece of DLC for Destiny 2 dropped this week and Guardians have taken to The Curse of Osiris like Mercury takes to…OK, I don’t have a good example. What can be said for The Curse of Osiris is that it isn’t making waves and isn’t what Destiny 2 was missing to bring it back from the woes that it has been going through. Then againisn’t Destiny always going through woes? If anythingCurse of Osiris is proving to be more of the same , while coming across as a bit watered downI asked for three cubes bartendernot glass full of ice with my whiskeyCaydee-6 would not be pleasedalthough he might not care either. For those Guardians that do care, though, it’s proving frustrating, and for anyone who might want to jump back in, Curse of Osiris doesn’t sell itself well.+The next week the raid reset and all Destiny 2 players learned something new about the raid: not only did the raid reset, but the order of the rooms was different. This is a smart design, allowing players to take on challenges they are unfamiliar with or maybe were having trouble with the week previous to improve upon them. Dogs were now first; this was fantastic news as the same fireteam could tackle the raid and knock out the part that had been challenging usfirst. Unfortunately the same fireteam couldn’t all make itinstead the four that did show (myself included) ended up playing Trials of the Nine. We did try everything in our power to fill the two spots putting out lines throughout our friends list and even Destinylfg.net and other sourcesbut we gave up after few hours at thisNo raid this week it looked like. This is not a new problem for Destinywith Destiny 2’s new feature of Guided Games it seemed some of this searching for party members stress could be alleviated.

-There’s no real choices and trade-offs to be made anymore. The same goes for the rest of the gameThe in-depth and often rewarding dialogue trees are gone, replaced with options that boil down to whether or not the player character is going to be either nice or sarcastic niceThere are no karma checksno skill checksno special checksnor even long and interesting conversations to be hadDialogue might as well just be there because previous Fallout games had it. The list could go onbut is perhaps better saved for another time. As it stands,Fallout 4 has gained massive mainstream success. It just had to become different game in order to get it; a game that’much more a shooter with RPG elements than it is an RPG with shooter elementsIt became a game one that fans of the old Fallout games have grown to hate and possibly series that RPG fans in may no longer care about in the futureTaken on it’s own It’s a decent gamebut one that has nonetheless been compromised for the sake of short-term sales. The same is true of Dead Space 3.+Unfortunately, most of the rest of the content Curse of Osiris provides isn’t top qualityMercury doesn’t offer the space or sense of wonder other areas provide to make it a worthwhile social space or area to exploreThe Lighthousethe new social spaceis way smaller than it was in the original Destiny, and it only contains one vendor to interact withMeanwhilethe open area of Mercury is just a tiny circle, so tiny in fact that Sparrows are disabled to give the illusion it'bigger than it really is. On Mercury, you’ll find out here now one public eventthree adventures, and one Lost Sector. For a planet that has been teased since the initial release of Destiny, it’s appearance in Destiny 2 is underwhelming.

-Curse of Osiris’ plot can be beaten in two hours and is filled with so much repetition and so little expositionOsiris, who is the character this DLC is about, only shows up in the flesh for a minute at the very endThe main villain is just an ominous robot who shows up and then is defeated through a quick-time event. To understand how lazy this story is, look no further than the ‘Deep Storage’ mission, which is just a re-purposed ‘Pyramidion’ strikeThe campaign does hold one bright spot; Sagira, Osiris’ ghostVoiced by Morena Baccarn (Firefly, Gotham), Sagira briefly becomes your companion during a large portion of the campaign and is a real delightCharming and well-written, it’s disappointing when she does finally leaveNolan North’s performance as Ghost has declined in quality over the yearsand it would have been great if players got the option to choose who they wanted as their companion. +(Image: https://www.publicdomainpictures.net/pictures/650000/nahled/new-year-2025-greeting-card-17321762162bI.jpg)Over the course of its lifespanmost players agreed that Destiny’s most persistent problem was a general lack of contentThere just wasn’t enough to do between DLC expansions. The thing is, those expansions never actually helped all that much. It would only take a week or two for the hardcore crowd to start complaining about a lack of content againSome would blame those players for spending too much time with the game and burning through that content too quicklybut it’s only natural that players would quickly burn through expansions when they often didn’t include many new featuresI was cautiously optimistic that Destiny 2 would address the real issue at the heart of its forebear’s content woes, but this sadly hasn’t been the case. It’s added a few minor features in the form of the new director, a map, small activities in its explorable spaces, milestones and flashpoints, but that that’s itOh wait, scratch thatMilestones and flashpoints are just re-branded bountiesso theyre actually not new at all. So not only does it offer less content than Destiny’s final form, but it still hasn’t addressed the first game’s core problem.

-Considering how Destiny’s campaign was universally panned, Bungie took extra care to craft proper campaign for the sequelDestiny 2 does have a campaign, one where each missions has unique objectives and doesn’t always end with a battle against some large, bullet-sponge boss. +

-The most exciting thing by far is the fact that all the Raids are backUpdated Raids matching appropriately the light level of Guardians and its fair because it’s not even the max light level of 400, it’s 390. This ensures that more people will get to experience the Raids, instead of just the top tier level players. Besides having free reign on all Raids and smashing in some old baddies' faces, the updated Raids come with something even more worthwhile: the coolest armor to ever come out of Destiny. While I haven’t been the biggest fan of some of the armor choices made by Bungiewhoever thought of this totally revamped package of all armor was geniusSeeing the new Raid armor was enough to sell me on Age of Triumph — Vault of Glass asideIt just looks so space-magicand isnt that what it’s all about?+
