-Fallout 4 and Dead Space 3 were both the standout [[https://www.Destiny2focus.com/articles/queenbreaker-in-2025-still-my-go-to-heavy-for-epic-dps.html|best linear fusion rifle Destiny 2]] sellers of their respective series. More gamers are familiar with these series thanks to their widespread successOn it’s ownthis success is a good thing. In the case of Fallout at least, it means that the series has a future. Just like with Destiny 2however, that success came with price. In the case of Fallout 4 greater success and mainstream appeal came at the cost of its RPG depth. Instead of defining what kind of character they want to play at the outset of the gameplayers can instead develop them as they play. The Sole Survivor’s identity is fluid. They can be anything and everything given enough time. They’re basically competent in everything from the outset of the game and developing them is mostly just matter of increasing their damage with/resistance to different types of weapons.+Of all the things players can do in the open area, Adventures are the most story-drivenPresented on the map as an orange banner with a white sword, these activities task Guardians with following a series of objectivesStructurallyAdventures most resemble the mission design of missions from the original; get an objectivego clear out wave of enemieslisten to Ghost speculate a bit, and battle boss.

-Over the course of its lifespanmost players agreed that Destiny’s most persistent problem was a general lack of content. There just wasn’t enough to do between DLC expansionsThe thing is, those expansions never actually helped all that much. It would only take a week or two for the hardcore crowd to start complaining about a lack of content again. Some would blame those players for spending too much time with the game and burning through that content too quickly, but it’s only natural that players would quickly burn through expansions when they often didn’t include many new features. I was cautiously optimistic that Destiny 2 would address the real issue at the heart of its forebears content woes, but this sadly hasn’t been the caseIts added a few minor features in the form of the new directora mapsmall activities in its explorable spaces, milestones and flashpoints, but that that’s it. Oh wait, scratch that. Milestones and flashpoints are just re-branded bounties, so they’re actually not new at all. So not only does it offer less content than Destiny’s final form, but it still hasn’t addressed the first game’s core problem.+Speaking of enemies, Destiny 2 doesn’t add anything new to the mixEach of the factions from the original game returns with a few new units, but they don’t change the fact that these are the same enemies weve been shooting for the past three yearsConsidering were exploring new, exotic worlds, it would have been nice to get some new enemy species thrown in.

-The one thing that continually will linger on the mind while playing is the exact sentiment above. Why was Curse of Osiris not included in the base game? Curse of Osiris is smalladding only one new destinationa new raid space next week and some other minor things, which I’m sure you can guess. It’s gratingbecause for such a slice of content, it could have easily made its way into the base game — obviously Im not a developer nor do I pretend to know the ins-outs of development — that saidthis DLC really is small enough that if booting up Destiny for an outside party, they might think it’part of the base game.+The story campaign has more missions and cinematics than you’ve ever seen in a Destiny game. The player experience has more varietymore types of activities, and more ways for you to enjoy the experience by yourself, or with other players. It isin terms of the action youll enjoy [[https://www.destiny2focus.com/articles/destiny-2-s-armor-3-0-revolutionizing-builds-in-edge-of-fate.html|Stat scaling system]] a more diverse experience than any Bungie game ever.

After allcapturing the attention of the casual or mainstream audience usually means massive success and wondrous profitSo it’understandable that they, publishers especially, would have vested interest in making their games more accessible and appealing to that audienceMaking that appeal often means simplification. The simpler the game is, the more accessible it is, the more mainstream appeal it can haveWhile there’nothing innately wrong with making one’s game more accessible to the wider gaming audience, doing so always comes at cost. Just as a game cannot be both simple and complex, neither can it simultaneously serve its niche and successfully appeal to the mainstream audienceTherefore compromises must be made, usually ones that rob the game of what made it special in the first place.

-Convinced yet, Guardian? Ready to come back to the fold instead of drinking your woes away locked in a dark dingy Tower bar? Sure, you might see Cayde-6 roll on through, but does he really have anything interesting to say yet? He’s just waiting for the action he has no idea is on the way. The Cabal have been a long time coming and what better way to kick off Destiny 2 then an all-out assault on the place Guardians call home? Get it while it’s hot Guardian, the Tower won’t be around for much longer and all that hard work you’ve put in over the years (or ignored), well either keep at it or kiss it good byeSee you in spaceGuardian.+Destiny nailed its gameplay mechanics perfectly out of the gate and those carry beautifully into Destiny 2. Aiming and shooting feel fantastic, while platforming has been tightened up with Guardians now able to clamber over ledgesJumping is still a little floatybut the clambering should help players avoid some unnecessary deaths.

-I wasn't a huge fan of any of the guns in the Destiny 2 Betaalthough I'm usually picky and stick with the ones I really like, but they do seem different and cater to different needsYou're also given a lot of options in the Beta which is nice, including the ability to test out all of the different kinds of guns. They've changed the organization of guns as well, and I'm not too much of a fanalthough I could see it working once you have a whole host of guns to choose fromInstead of Primary, Secondary, and Heavy, it's KineticEnergy, and PowerHeavy and Power are synonymous, while Kinetic means regular weapons with no energy ability attached and Energy simply means that they doEnergiesremember, are the SolarVoid and Arc powers that a weapon might come withSo nowif one is Kinetic and one is Energyyou could have two assault riflestwo hand cannons or any mix of what we think of now as Primary and Secondary weapons in those slotsWhat I ended up usingthough, was a sidearm in the Kinetic slot and an assault rifle in the Energy slotwhich meant I spawned with the sidearmwhich was weirdIt's different, but I think that when I actually start using it it will make more sense.+Destiny came up short in many departments following its 2014 launchincluding exploration. Exploring Earth, Venus, Mars and the Moon was supposed to be exciting, but ended up being a chore. The open areas of each planet were flat, plain and lacked exciting activities to participate inThey were pretty but didn't have substance to keep players entertained outside of mindless busywork. This is something Bungie is directly addressing with Destiny 2.
 +
+The most immediate change is the environment. The Tower always seemed like an elusive thing; my Guardian didn’t feel close to those she was supposedly protecting. How is one supposed to feel like a hero when there really isn’t anyone worth saving? Heroes come in all shapes and sizeswhether fighting actual battles or just being that person someone looks up to, heroes aren’t made without those to protectAlthough, it could be argued Guardians are more warriors…never mindno need to go down that path. Needless to sayGuardians are now invested in the people they are protecting; they are going out into the world and fighting back whatever might threaten a community brokenIt connects Guardians to something worth fighting for: relationship.
+Fallout 4 and Dead Space 3 were both the standout best sellers of their respective series. More gamers are familiar with these series thanks to their widespread successOn it’s ownthis success is a good thing. In the case of Fallout at leastit means that the series has futureJust like with Destiny 2howeverthat success came with a price. In the case of Fallout 4 greater success and mainstream appeal came at the cost of its RPG depth. Instead of defining what kind of character they want to play at the outset of the game, players can instead develop them as they play. The Sole Survivor’s identity is fluid. They’re basically competent in everything from the outset of the game and developing them is mostly just a matter of increasing their damage with/resistance to different types of weapons.
 +
+There were some 3v3 modes like Trials of Osiris. With Destiny 2we’ve met somewhere in the middle. Every game mode is 4v4 now instead of 3v3 or 6v6. We’ve created a scenario where every single player in the Crucible plays an important role on their team. We’ve placed an emphasis on strategyteamworkand communicationYou’re going to think a lot about how you back each other up, how you play together.
