Geralt appears in the New World via a portal but he isn't the only inhabitant of the Continent to make their way to Monster Hunter: World . An ancient Leshen, one of the cooler monster designs in The Witcher 3 , has also made its way here and Geralt must team up with others in order to track it and bring it down. Ciri even makes an appearance at the end of the trailer, as her ability to travel through space and time lets her potentially cross over into just about anything, maybe even Cyberpunk 2077 , the next CD Projeckt Red g
However, this is not to say that durability systems should just be eliminated entirely. In fact, when done right, they can make gameplay feel more realistic in a way that isn’t infuriating. For starters, apart from survival games, weapons can still have a durability limit without breaking. Or perhaps eventually they will break, but you’re able to keep tabs on how worn out your weapons are, and you can choose to go and repair them before they get close to breaking entirely. This would keep the realism element without making the player feel like they need to entirely avoid using their better weapons. This would also avoid the aggravating part where you must constantly be finding new ones to pick up (though you likely would need to be gathering supplies as you progress through the game, to have the materials to fix weapons lat
They won't just be used to create new and better equipment, but also to cook up exciting new recipes, providing access to new skills, like the ability to double jump or damage the enemy when hit. The more recipes unlocked, the greater the variety of skills that can be equip
The initial reception to Days Gone was fairly lukewarm. People had mixed opinions about the story, didn't really bond with the protagonist, and were absolutely exhausted by the wealth of technical issues that plagued the game on rele
But games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild have gotten a lot of hate for its weapon durability setup. In Breath of the Wild, you go through weapons and shields extremely quickly, and they’re just broken and unusable once you’ve used them up. This game falls into that exact, problematic description that I’ve given above. Considering how great the rest of the game is, it’s unfortunate that so many people could not get past the durability sys

As part of Update 6.0 on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, players can take on the role of Geralt of Rivia once again, much like they have in Soulcalibur VI already. Doug Cockle is even back to voice the famous grumpy dad from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (as well as the other games and source material book seri
One could argue the Insect Glaive is reminiscent of a spear, but in execution it acts more like a staff with a few distinct features. The titular “insect” associated with the weapon is called a Kinsect, which is a pseudo-partner during a hunt that players can send out to hit a monster, drain its energy, and use that to apply buffs. It is also a weapon based around verticality, matching its introduction in the more dynamic maps from Monster Hunter 4 , and allows hunters to vault into the air and attack from ab
One possibility has the hunter intentionally aim for their mark with the intent to impale them - harkening back to images of hunts painted on cave walls by the ancestors of humanity, just replacing the Woolly Mammoths of the Rouffignac cave with Monster Hunter Generations ' Gammoth . This may fail and bounce off a monster's hide, but if it succeeds in sticking, then a monster could take bleeding damage similar to what the Seregios inflicts with its razor-sharp sca
To balance out a weapon that spends much of its time stuck in a monster or the ground, it seems right to provide hunters some extra benefit while unarmed. Perhaps they could run faster while unencumbered, or simply have an easier time setting up traps and utilizing other items. It's easy to posit what a good weapon could be and much harder to actually implement one in a series as complex as Monster Hunter is already, but a thought experiment such as this shows the possibilities for new weapons are limitless when pulling from the right source mater
