In an investors call (via VentureBeat ), EA CFO Blake Jorgensen confirmed that the new Battlefield will be revealed this spring and began to tease the potential for the title. It's unclear whether or not the game will come to Xbox One and PS4 but it is confirmed to release on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. According to Jorgensen, Battlefield 6 will “ mark a return to all-out military warfare .” He continued by talking about the scale of the new shooter. “ The game takes full advantage of the power of next-generation platforms to bring massive, immersive battles to life with more players than ever before. Featuring maps with unprecedented scale, the next edition of Battlefield takes all the destruction, player agency, vehicle and weapon combat that the franchise is known for and elevates it to another level. The team is focused and the game is ahead of our internal milestones. We’ll reveal the game in the spring, and deliver a defining Battlefield 2042 weapons experience for our players in the 2021 holiday season ,” said Jorgen

By far the most unique game on this list, Mirror’s Edge is not actually a first-person shooter. Further, the game is entirely singleplayer, as it focuses on players controlling protagonist Faith while she makes her way through a futuristic city. In the world of Mirror’s Edge , everyone is under supervision and everything is coated in shades of white to create a state of normalcy, with Faith being a runner that delivers secret packages across the city. Telling an interesting story of crime in a crimeless world, Mirror’s Edge is a game worth experiencing for fans of DICE’s w

With a World War 3 setting , 128 player multiplayer, and a battle royale game all supposedly on the table, there is plenty to be excited about regarding the sequel. However, perhaps the most exciting bit of information leaked thus far is that the game will be taking inspiration from Battlefield

Not only is Battlefield 6 supposedly taking place in World War 3 , a fictional conflict that was already covered heavily inside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 , but it is also pulling the naming convention from 2019’s Modern Warfare reboot. Infinity Ward’s return to the successful Call of Duty subseries saw them dropping the numbers that came after each Modern Warfare , which made sense because of how the new story was not connected in any way. While just calling the game Modern Warfare may cause some issues with naming its eventual sequel, for this specific reboot, it made sense. It indicated a new tone and a fresh start, and Battlefield copying this style may indicate that EA and DICE are attempting to do the s

Reputable leaker Tom Henderson is claiming Battlefield 6 is going to kick things up a notch. The shooter will reportedly have up to 128 players in each match and bring a new level of destructibility. Henderson claims that Battlefield 4's popular “Levolution” system will be making a grand return. In Battlefield 4 , players could trigger scripted sequences that caused chaotic events like skyscrapers to come tumbling down. Battlefield 6, which will be set in the modern-day , will supposedly see that same concept but in a less scripted manner. Instead of the building falling the exact same way each time, it'll fall depending on how the building was damaged and targeted. In theory, this will make it a far more versatile and dynamic system, so players have to defend the entire building as opposed to just key target poi

With the Modern Warfare trilogy wrapped up back in 2011, Infinity Ward’s return to the modern era saw the developer starting from scratch. Though characters like Captain Price and Gaz made a return, and more figures returned via the game's post-laucnh Seasons of content, the old story was left behind. In its place, a fresh tale was told, with this one focusing on the new character Farah and her country’s fight for freedom. Beyond just starting a new narrative, though, a new tone of realism was introduced, with action-packed missions like Modern Warfare 2 ’s Cliffanger being replaced with gritty and intense night vision raids. While some still prefer the classics, this new style worked well for fans, too, and it seems like Battlefield may be trying to pull from this succ

Lots of shooter fans probably remember the battle royale explosion from a couple years ago. It started with PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and expanded from there. There's lots of games known chiefly for battle royale action, like Fortnite and Apex Legends, but a lot of established franchises like Call of Duty added battle royale modes to capitalize on the craze. Battlefield was no exception, but Firestorm wasn't a huge hit. Fortnite was already out by then , and Apex Legends came out a short while later. Firestorm got some praise for creativity, yet failed to draw in players from its well-established competit
